When explaining the pH value of water, I will prefer to explain it in a language everyone can understand rather than giving engineering knowledge.

When looking at the causes of all diseases, it is seen that acidic beverages — such as cola, mineral water, tea, and coffee — are at the root. Acidic drinks are at the top of the list of forbidden foods in cancer, panic attacks, migraines, insomnia, rheumatism, and pain.

While learning what acid and base are in schools, we also learn about the damage lemon causes to marble countertops. Acidic drinks harm our bodies just as lemon harms marble.

What is pH?

The pH rating of our diet is between 1 and 14. The highest acidity degree is 1, and the highest alkalinity degree is 14. While the stomach environment needs to be acidic for good digestion, the intestinal environment should ideally be alkaline.

There are 5 minerals in alkaline form: calcium, potassium, sodium, magnesium, and iron. These minerals combine with acidic minerals to expel toxic substances from the body. Alkaline water provides a body cleansed of sticky mucous substances and helps eliminate toxins.

  • If pH < 7, the environment is acidic.
  • If pH > 7, the environment is basic.
  • The recommended pH value for drinking water is in the range of 6.5–8.5.

The pH level of blood is 7.45. The acidic drinks we consume throughout the day acidify the blood. Waters that are too acidic or too basic damage organ functions. To reduce the acidification in the blood, it is necessary to drink water with a high pH level. By maintaining this delicate balance, we can ensure the healthy functioning of all our physical, emotional, and mental bodily functions.

Which Water Should We Drink?

Disinfectants such as chlorine are added to the water we drink to reduce microorganisms. These products also change the pH value of the water. Therefore, it is more suitable to drink natural spring water, meaning unprocessed or minimally processed waters. When choosing your water, compare the minerals it contains and choose the one suitable for your body structure.

Boiled and cooled water becomes purified of germs; however, important minerals for body health are also lost during boiling. Boiled waters are not sufficiently beneficial for maintaining healthy bodily functions, like processed waters. Boiling is only recommended for short periods during epidemic diseases.

Water is the primary source of important minerals for our body. By drinking 8 glasses of water a day, we meet most of the minerals our body needs. The water choice of a healthy individual is water with all minerals in balance. Excess calcium can cause stone formation; those with kidney or other organ stone complaints should not prefer waters with high calcium values. Hypertension patients should prefer low-sodium waters; sodium causes an increase in blood pressure.
