Horse chestnut is considered a complete source of healing with its miraculous effects in skincare. Creams and oils made with horse chestnut provide solutions to many skin problems. It is astringent for eye area wrinkles and skin sagging. The extract of this poisonous fruit, which can even cause death if boiled and consumed internally, provides smooth skin by protecting the structure of veins and capillaries. Applying horse chestnut extract in the form of ointment, tincture, or gel to the skin is also beneficial for pain, fatigue, itching, and swelling resulting from impact in the legs, aside from varicose veins and rheumatic diseases.
Experts emphasize that because it is poisonous, consuming its fruit raw or boiled can be lethal, but applying it externally as an ointment or tincture to problematic areas will lead to visible improvements.
From horse chestnut trees, large seeds fall onto the roads in autumn.
Horse chestnut is used as the main active ingredient in anti-wrinkle creams, which especially women show interest in to look younger. It closes enlarged pores on the skin and eliminates red-appearing capillaries on the face. These properties stem from horse chestnut's being a vasoconstrictor.
Today, horse chestnut is found in many creams with botox-like effects, body care products, and astringents. Extremely effective for rheumatic pains, muscle aches, hair loss, sunspots on the face, vascular pains, and firming breasts, horse chestnut is used in hemorrhoid treatment; it regulates circulation in varicose veins in the legs, relieves pain, and tightens loose neck skin.
Horse Chestnut Oil at Home
To make horse chestnut oil at home, the seeds that mature in autumn are removed from their shells and grated. Fill one-third of a jar with horse chestnut, add pure extra virgin olive oil to the rest, and leave it in hot sun for 45 days. Shake it every evening. Then strain it, fill a glass bottle, and store it in a cool place. This oil can be used comfortably on all body areas where there is a complaint in every situation of need. It is beneficial to massage the face and neck with a few drops of oil every night before bed for eye area wrinkles, capillary ruptures, and correcting loose neck skin.
Horse Chestnut Lotion
When used regularly in the same way for skin sagging and varicose veins on the body, the complaints will disappear. To prepare a lotion from horse chestnut, grate 4-5 horse chestnuts. (I prepare it by breaking 7-8 pieces without grating). Bring to a boil with 2 horse chestnut leaves in 2 cups of water. Let it steep for 15-20 minutes, strain after it cools. The prepared lotion can be used comfortably on feet and legs with edema, and on aching joints. It is used as a lotion for skin wrinkles and sagging. Under-eye and skin care creams made from horse chestnut are also sold.
