What is Hackberry?

It belongs to the elm family. It grows in temperate and tropical regions. It has large oval leaves, its fruits are round, slightly larger than a lentil, greenish-black, with a slightly bitter pistachio-like taste. Infusions are made from its fruits, seeds, leaves, and gum. It grows in Turkey's Southeastern Anatolia, Central Anatolia, and Mediterranean regions. There are approximately 70 species. The fruit, leaves, seeds, and gum of this tree are utilized.
